Jonathan & Cleo: "Merry Christmas one and all and a Happy New Year!"

Season's greetings Peeps! It is I once again bringing you 2013's last Bloggy update (until Jan 2014).

Ever since Christmas 2010 I've been attempting to create another Christmas Card just as epic as 2010's but never seeming to regnite that same spark. Then the Red Eye side to myself came to the conclusion "Don't stress yourself out girl, there's a chance you might not even make something just as epic again and so what? Just create what's right in your heart." So I decided to create something which has truly made me happy this year so I created this.
Yes it's a Christmas Card of Jonathan and Cleo from GANTO within their own wacky, imagination world wishing every single one of you lot a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I was originally going to post this in Black & White (since I'm still having trouble re-installing Photoshop unfortunately) until I thought to myself "Oh come on it's Christmas! Make it colourful anyway and if that means using felt-tips so be it!" And so I did.

So what is it about this very image which supposedly makes me happy? Well I'm going to be blunt, I have not had a great year. My Lap-Top broke down making me lose all the Adobe Programs I had limiting my creativity (thankfully Lap-Top's been fixed now but am still having trouble re-installing the programs), constantly applying for jobs but constantly being rejected (which hurts to be honest), had a lot of personal crap thrown my way (which I'm not going to get into) and overall have just been really depressed. I'll even go as far so to say it's nearly as bad as my 2011 year (that was awful). That is until October of this year when I won The Tommy Fund that things started to give me hope. I know it sounds strange but it was like someone still saw something within me to give to the art/animation world and is willing to give me a chance. My motto has always been if your work has managed to make even one person happy then you've done something right. Now I look at GANTO and think "It's not over, you can still do it. Believe in yourself!" And come January it's all I'll be working on, I don't care if I am only a one woman animation team I am making GANTO and there is nothing anyone can do that will stop me!

What's also given me hope is I've managed to bag a few job interviews in the second half of the year too and whilst I still haven't gotten anything, at least I'm getting there slowly but surely.

And before I bring to this latest update to a close I just want to say a special thank you to those of you who still come to visit this Blog of mine. I don't know who any of you are or where any of you are from and even what you guys are thinking! Hell I don't even know if you guys even read my Blogs or just come to look at the pictures but either way it's because of you wonderful folk that I manage to keep this Blog going and thus encouraging me to keep pursuing my dreams and not give up, no matter how bad things become. So truly from the bottom of my heart thank you so much beautiful people and yes I mean every single word I've just said.

Well that's all for this year folks and until next year (well next month actually)...

HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS NAVIGATORS AND SEE YOU ALL IN 2014! :D

Macbeth Of The Galaxy!!!!! Alas it was not meant to be...Yet!

Hello Peeps it is I once again bringing you another once a month dosage of moi's Bloggy update!

Before I begin let me just start with some GANTO related news first. As you may remember from last month's update I won "The Tommy Fund" hence I will be able to begin animating GANTO as soon as possible. Currently I am trying to finalise the pre-production/concept-art quickly, in fact for this month's update I was originally going to be posting these very concept arts. However it's taken me longer than I thought and since I don't like posting unfinished work, this is the reason why I'm posting about something else for now. Don't worry folks as soon as I've finished drawing them I'll be sure to post them here.

Now that that's out the way onto what this update is really about. When I first applied to "The Tommy Fund" I also entered another IdeasTap competition at the same time called "Shakespeare In Shoreditch - Film" where we had to create our own interpretation of one of Shakespeare's famous plays. Although I didn't win this competition I'm kind of relieved to be  honest. Not because I wanted to lose (if I did I wouldn't have entered it) but because once I had already won "The Tommy Fund" I started to panic about winning this because if I did, I would have been animating two films at the exact same time hence, double the work load and double the stress (not fun folks, believe me)! As well as writing a new adaption we also had to submit some concept art so without further ado, here's what I've created so far and submitted so far.

First up is the main protagonist (but who is actually the real villain of the story) himself Macbeth looking very smug with his egotistical self and sitting majestically on his...Errrrm..."Iron Throne"! (Yes, yes I've must made a Game Of Thrones reference, sue me!) And as you should guess by the title of this update by now my story adaption of Macbeth is set in outer space and hence why I've created him as a four-eyed alien. Of course the Macbeth alien isn't the only character I submitted, here are the rest of the other Macbeth characters we all know and love...
Next up is the main antagonist (but who is actually the real hero of the story) Macduff. The ever noble fly-winged, six armed Macduff is the greatest swordsmen of the entire galaxy and a real force to be reckoned with! Surely the smug, arrogant, cruel Macbeth would never do anything to piss him off right? Right?! RIGHT?! RI...Oh you all know the answer to this question!
Next up is the ever infamous wife of Macbeth, Lady Macbeth (who never had her own name for some really odd reason). Alien wise I just made her the same four-eyed specie like her husband. What I've always found really fascinating about Lady Macbeth is just how divided everyone's opinion is of her within the Shakespeare Fanbase. People either really despise her and think she's the most evil, despicable character of the entire story, or they feel really sorry for her and believe she's the most mis-understood victim of the entire story. Me personally? I honestly think BOTH of these opinions are wrong! Misunderstood victim? Give me a break she's far from innocent in this story, she knew exactly what she was doing and didn't care about the consequences (until it started to affect her) but the most evil character? Nope, sorry, that crown goes to Macbeth (pun unintended, honest.)
Next the Astro Sisters of the stars A.K.A. the three Witches. Since the Witches kept predicting Macbeth's future in the story I just thought "Why not make them into creatures based from the Astrology myths?" And so I did, could you tell which Astro star is who?
Up next is Macbeth's best friend Banquo and his young son Fleance. As soon as I went round illustrating the father and son duo I noticed something quite odd, for an adaption based within outer space I suddenly realised none of the characters I drew so far even had lazer-guns! So with this in mind I decided that the image of Banquo and Fleance would be the perfect time to include the lazer-guns.
Now is the turn of the noble King Duncan. Because the character of Duncan has always been described as the good King who always looked after the people of his Kingdom really well, I felt it was only right to give him a kindly look (included with butterfly-wings for good measure). As well as looking kind I still wanted him to look like he really came from royalty, hence which is why I've given him humanoid-lion type features.
And of course last but most definitely not least Princes Malcolm and Donalbain, the sons of King Duncan. Not much different lookwise from their father really but if you're wondering who's who Malcolm, the eldest son, is the one who has longer hair and lager butter-fly wings whereas Donalbain, the youngest son, is the one with shorter hair and smaller butter-fly wings.

So you guys are probably wondering "Why did you choose to do an adaption of Macbeth?" Well, as someone who loves the Shakespeare stories Macbeth has always been my personal favourite! Just the dynamic of how once a good man turns bad once he starts to get corrupted with power and arrogance! I especially love the role-reversal of how Macbeth the villain is in the role of the protagonist whereas the hero Macduff is in the role of the antagonist. Quite similar to todays role-reversal stories like Death Note's Light Yagami & L and Breaking Bad's Walter White & Hank Schrader. In a way Shakespeare's Macbeth was quite original and way ahead of it's time in this respect. It's a shame more stories aren't like this but in a way it's probably better it stays rare, otherwise this storytelling style will just get boring and old after a while.

Well, that's all for now folks and until next time...

See ya later Navigators! :D

Ladies & Gentlemen...I WON!!!!!

Hello Peeps, it is I once again with the most amazing, fantastic news...

I won! I won an IdeasTap competition "The Tommy Fund"! I've never felt this excited since I went to Disneyland (or bumping into Richard Epcar at the London Comic Con)!
So what does this mean? What's next for moi? Well, if you've haven't guessed by now from the above image, I'll be beginning production for GANTO: Renaissance. Yes that's right GANTO has now finally been removed from the shelf! Honestly I don't know what else to say I'm just so excited about this.

Unfortunately I am still a one woman animation team so until I manage to gather some team-mates, I'll be working on this on my own for now but if anyone else is interested and would really like to help me out please let me know ASAP (Note: Must be based  in London). Either way GANTO is being made and quite frankly my dears I don't give a damn how long it takes me. Expect to see constant updates in regards to GANTO in future.

Well, that's all for now folks and until next time...

Work in progress sketches & concepts...

Hey Peeps! It is I once again bringing you all a...Well, a more simpler update really.

To be honest nothing much really happened this month. Just been sketching and trying to come up with new ideas. It's a mixture of either concepts for my future work OR a couple of Fan-Arts. Haven't finished any of these sketches yet but I shall post a couple of these images anyway to show you all where I'm at.
The above two images are actually of the same character I'm trying to create for a story I had envisioned since I was a teen and is the one project I have always dreamt about creating. Personally I like the above image better and will be using that image to work from in future.

The next couple of unfinished sketches you are about to see below are Fan-Arts which are all kind of linked in someway but don't want to say too much, wouldn't want to give it way. Anyways enjoy for now!
And finally last but not least...
Oh look it's our very good friend Al Pasheepo! Thought I forgot about him didn't you?

Unfortunately that's pretty much it for this update, sorry it's incredibly short. Hopefully the next update should be better.

Well, that's all for now folks and until next time...

Do NOT mess with the Witch and her precious Crow!

Hi again Peeps! It is I once again introducing to you all a new illustration for the world to see!

This month I entered another competition where we had to create our own adaption of "The Crow" made by the London based artist Gary Russell. When designing my own Crow adaption I was originally going to do some tall, dark, handsome man in Crow like clothing and Crow like posing as well as being surrounded by many, many wonderful Crows...Until I realised: "Actually that very image has been done to death by other artists already, let me try something different." So I went right back to the drawing board (pun unintended) and took another, closer look at Gary Russell's "The Crow". The more looked at it, the more I started to think: "This is no Crow, this is a guy turning into a Crow!" Then that very idea clicked into my mind...
And voila here is the result! The above illustration of a guy literally transforming into a Crow! Not very pleasant looking is it? Nor is it meant to be to be honest. I've even taken the liberty of attaching my very own short story for it: One day an uptight Toff was walking through Camden High Street when he saw a Witch performing in front of many happy, smiling faces along with her pet and best friend a Crow. Believing he's superior to the whole world around him and especially the Witch, the Toff thought it would be "hilarious" to kill a Witch's Crow so without delay he took out his self entitled gun and shot the poor, harmless Crow in front of everyone and the poor crying children. Devastated the Witch vowed revenge on the Toff by...Well, draw your own conclusion from the above image. Oh yeah and whole crowed cheered the Witch and began stomping and spitting at the Toff/Crow, which continued on for years and years until the day he died, the end!

Well, this is pretty much it for my latest update I guess. Speaking of Crows here's a very short animated film I made a few years back featuring one called "Loneliness Of Death" (if you haven't seen it already).

Well, that's all for now folks and until next time...

Paintings of old and storyboards of an old project.

Hey Peeps! It is I once again bringing you a new update, this time showcasing some of my old paintings and a couple of storyboards of an old project which due to my college and university studies, I never got round to making in the end. More on that later, first up the paintings.

Those who know me will now how much I am fascinated by the Vampire legends (not the Twilight sparkly ones, yuck) so here is an old painting I created of a Vampire riding on his Vampire Horse, calmly hunting for his unsuspecting victims.  What I find so interesting about Vampires is how classy, polite and sophisticated they are, especially the way they start to approach their victims, gaining their trust before eating them, which makes them so much more scarier! With other monsters of legends at least we know where we stand with them, not only do they look evil they act evil whereas Vampires come to you as friends, great hosts and in most cases take on a form looking like anyone else. You don't know the person you befriended is a Vampire until it's too late!

The next series of paintings you are about to see actually relate to storyboards I was talking about earlier. Six years ago when I was studying Art & Design in college (one year before studying Animation in Uni), I was creating stories in my spare time for my future animation projects. One such story which you are about to see is about a Winged Cat with a split personality. What's interesting about this one is that this was the furthest I went to creating a storyboard for it. Unfortunately due to my college and uni studies I never got round to making it in the end. However, I am considering reviving this project in future once I am done with the secret project and Al Pasheepo project.
And here is the Winged Cat himself Alfie Angel. Alfie is the most incredibly kindest creature you could ever hope to meet, always helping those less fortunate than himself and would never even hurt a germ. Unfortunately because Alfie is too kind, he his unable to stand up for himself against scumbags and thugs.
That is until his alter-ego Ethan Evil awakens. Unlike Alfie, Ethan takes no crap from anyone and he always awakens whenever Alfie is in danger. But this comes with a price because Ethan is not a very nice guy at all, in fact Ethan is just plain psycho! And whenever he fights back against the scumbags and thugs...Well, let's just say the results aren't pretty, gruesome even.
Speaking of scumbags and thugs here's one now, a despicable Dog with a not so scary name of Joshie Woshie! Is just me are Dogs always the villains in my works of fiction? No reason, just something I've noticed recently.

Now finally we've reached the rough storyboards. If I am to revive this project I am thinking of tweaking this story since the story seems a little to simplistic at the moment. We'll see.
And before I bring this latest update to a close I am pleased to announce that Bitter Critter has been entered into a new competition! Of course this means I need your help with votes, if you could all do me a favour and vote for Bitter Critter I'll really appreciate it, thank you all in advance.

He is the creature of the not so scary night...He is...DRAGON CAT!

Howdy Peeps! It is I once again bringing you another random make believe creature I just thought of out of boredom.

I couple of weeks ago I didn't really have anything better so I just decided to look up some of the things I really like such as Dragons (my favourite mythical creatures), Cats (my favourite animal) and different legends, myths and folklore from around the world. The more I researched, the more I thought to myself "why don't I create my own mythical creature?"
And viola! Here is the result! Dragon Cat is a lovely, friendly creature who loves children and always wants to play with them. Unlike everyone else, Dragon Cat always knows the truth and gets pissed off whenever someone who he knows for a fact is guilty of murder, is found not guilty instead. So much so he goes out of his way to devour the killers alive and then poop out their bodies to be recycled as toys for children all around the world to play with and knowing how aggressive children can be with toys, these murderers will suffer eternal pain! That is the wonderful power of Dragon Cat. Oh yeah and apart from murderers his favourite foods are Dogs and Politicians (the really bad ones).

Normally I would've coloured this with Photoshop by now but since my Laptop still isn't working I am now considering colouring this in paint instead. In fact I might just do that, I'm getting really sick of posting everything in B&W of late.

Well that's all for now folks and until next time...

Spider Fox! Spider Fox! Does whatever Spider Fox does!

Aloha Peeps! It is I once again bringing you closer to my strange, wondrous world but only this time my more original work is back hurrah!

To be completely honest with you folks I got a little bit sick of posting Fan-Arts. Don't get me wrong I have nothing against Fan-Arts, if anything they help improve your illustration skills a lot. But let's be real here what's the point of being an artist when you're not even creating your own little world? Furthermore just because my Laptop is still down doesn't mean I've stopped working on personal projects! Again just to be clear I'm likely to still make Fan-Arts in future but for now and always my personal projects take main priority. Anyways enough yapping, time to move forward to latest idea.
Ladies and gentlemen I'd like you to meet Spider Fox! Not much is known about Spider Fox but legend says he's a spiritual energy of dearly departed Foxes who have long since left this World and have now taken a demonic form to seek revenge against those whom have hunted them for so long.
Here is a despicable hunter douche who kills Foxes purely for fun! So much so he had special surgery on his two fingers to take on a shape of a gun! His name is Leon KJ, I don't think I like any Leons now.
And last but not least meet the despicable Dog Alley Says, Leon's best friend! Alley is a racist who believes his canine species is far more superior than his canine cousins the Foxes. He also thinks he's so hot and sexy when in actual fact he's the most ugliest Dog I have ever seen!

So what this this new idea you ask? Well I've been reading a lot of Urban Myths recently and I just thought "wouldn't be cool to create my own?" So I came up with this, a Fox Hunting type of horror myth. Story wise I'm still not sure but hope you guys enjoy the characters I've created for the idea for the time being.

And just before I bring this latest update to a close I am pleased to announce that my film Bitter Critter is now finally on Youtube! So if you haven't already please do check it out some time.

Well that's all for now folks and until next time...

Just One Piece of inspiration! (And did I mention I love wings?)

Hey Peeps! It is I once again bringing you more...Fan-Art.

OK, I know I'm showing a bit too many Fan-Arts than my original work lately which I can only apologise for. However, my Laptop is still down unfortunately and since I can't really finish any of my original work (particularly animation wise) without it; I've decided for the time being to continue showcasing some of my old art work I've never posted here before. Thus, continuing my motto of updating this Blog at least once a month. Of course, most of my old art work I want to show which I'm still proud of just happen to be Fan-Arts. Anyways enough of me yapping away, onto my Fan-Arts now!
The series of Fan-Arts I'm showing you all now is from my all time favourite TV series One Piece! Seriously I LOVE this show to bits! It's weird, it's crazy, it's serious, it's funny, it's tragically sad, it's over the top, it's surreal, it's exciting, it's unpredictable and above all it's so original and wonderful, I only wish I had thought of this show myself. It's that good in my honest opinion. The story-arcs are amazing, the characters are amazing, the villains are amazing, it has everything I could ever ask for in TV series! And I sound like a giant One Piece poster girl advert, back to the art work themselves. Above is an illustration are the faces of the main characters of the show, otherwise known as The Straw Hat crew. After drawing this I wondered how awesome would it be if they had wings since, you know, I have a great satisfaction with wings and would find any old excuse to draw them into my work? Well, let's find out!
Above is an illustration of my favourite Straw Hat (and overall favourite character in One Piece in general) Roronoa Zoro standing with Nico Robin and carrying little Tony Tony Chopper! Since Zoro is such a badass I gave him dragon wings. Robin has bat wings because she's a little, tiny bit gothie and Chopper has little birdie wings. I actually used to be a Zoro and Robin shipper when I drew this years ago but now I ship Zoro with Perona and Robin with Franky! Funny how that turned out huh? Oh and before anyone says anything yes I know Robin is actually 6 foot 2 but I have a confession to make...I didn't know that at the time and I feel a little bit silly drawing her shorter than she is now (hey, even Fans make mistakes, SUE ME). But despite that little hiccup, I'm still glad how the above illustration turned out.
Moving on, above is an illustration of two of the coolest best friends ever, Monkey D Luffy and Usopp (I swear these two should have their very own sitcom)! Because Luffy is the main character of show, I decided to give him big, angelic like eagle wings (can't get much more majestic than that). Wasn't sure what sort of wings to give Usopp but decide on the pterodactyl wings in the end and funnily enough it worked! Suits him. Speaking of Usopp, I made a shocking discovery that he's the most hardest one to draw! Honest to God I thought he was going to be easy!
Next up is an illustration of two characters I still ship to this day and haven't changed my mind on is Nami and Sanji! Because Nami is a little bit of a girly girl I felt it was only right to give her butterfly wings. Don't be fooled by her appearance though, she's actually a lot more tougher (and might I add scarier) than she looks! I gave Sanji fly wings because...Well...If he's to be with butterfly Nami than he might as well have wings from the insect species too. Yes, that is my honest reason.
And now finally but most definitely not least are Franky (the only Cyborg to ever wear speedos) and the eccentric, undead skeleton Brook! For the latter I don't think I even need to explain wear I gave him boney, decomposing wings. Same for Franky, he has metallic wings, do I even need to explain why? And just to add I made another shocking discovery, Franky is actually the most easiest one to draw! Seriously I thought he was going to be the hardest, how does that even work?!

Just before I bring this latest update to a close. What I love about One Piece and why it's my favourite show of all time is just how it mixes up so much genres together and somehow it just works! When it's funny it's hilariousness, when it's sad it's tragically sad. Hell this show doesn't even take itself seriously and yet, whenever something serious in the story does happen, it's just so well written and done in way when it doesn't get too pretentious. It just knows how to balance everything out so well. Even though I personally love it, I'll be the first to admit this show isn't for everyone but if, like me, you enjoy everything I mentioned about One Piece in this Blog than this show is definitely for you. So please if you can do check it out some time. Wow what do you know? I really am a walking, talking advert! I'll hush now.

Well, that's all for now folks and until next time...

Current Animation development and bad news...

Hey Peeps, it's me once again with sadly some bad news.

Unfortunately my Laptop, the one key equipment I use to create/edit some of my animation and art work, is currently having technical difficulties and thus is not working properly at all. Therefore I'm sad to say it may take me some time to update this Blog again. Don't worry I'll still carry on creating my personal projects but just so you all know, it's likely they will not be finished for a while. I'm also still planning on keeping up with my "at least once month update" motto but just in case you don't see another update from either within this month or the next couple of months, at least you'll know why. And just in case you're wondering how I'm updating this Blog right now, I'm actually using my brother's computer at the moment.

Now with that bad news out the way, onto what's happening to me animation wise. Now I'm sure most of you remember the Al Pasheepo project I've been trying to make but does anyone also remember this secret project I was making around the same time? I've also taken the liberty upload some character turn-around work I've also done for the latter project...
What about both these projects you ask? Well, in honest truth I was hoping to create both these shorts at the same time but it proved to be a little too much for me, therefore I have come to the conclusion that I must complete only one of them as of now. This has been an incredibly hard decision, but I've decided to put Al Pasheepo on a longer Hiatus and carry on finishing the "Secret" project which you're seeing right now.Why have I chosen this project to complete? While thinking about it, I've realized that I've actually completed more animation for "Secret" project than I have done for Al Pasheepo and that's what it all came down to for me personally. Does this mean the end of Al Pasheepo? Hell no! I will go back to Al Pasheepo as soon as I've finished this.

Well, that's all for now folks and until next time...

Purpley Monkey with a pinky botty and trumpet! (Very short update)

Hey peeps! It is I once again bringing you all a much shorter update than usual.

Here is a quick update showing you the Monkey I've finished colouring for the "Salvador's House Party" illustration. Sorry it's not as much as I usually show here but the other stuff I'm currently illustrating and was originally planning to show here is taking longer than I expected and being the perfectionist I am, I've never been that comfortable showing work looking so incomplete.

For now I can only apologize for such a short update. Hopefully purpley Monkey with pinky botty makes you smile and fingers crossed I hope I'll be able to show more work for my next update.

That's all for now folks and until next time...

See ya later Navigators! :D And once again I'm really sorry for such a short Blog update.

Happy New Year! (Late I know) & "Fan-Art" illustration galore!

Happy (Late) New Year Peeps! It is I once again doing what I always do, updating this Bloggy of mine to showcase thy creativity!

Believe it or not I'm actually going to post some more Fan-Art! (Might start doing this more often). So the following characters you'll see in these illustrations will be from Aldous Huxley's book; "Brave New World".
To begin, the above illustration is of Bernard Marx (short, skinny man on the right) convincing an excited John Savage (tall, handsome man in rags on the left) to come join him in the so-called "Brave New World". Woman in the middle staring "lovingly" at John is Lenina Crowne.
Above is an illustration of 8 month old babies, excitedly mesmerised by the beauty of roses and books. Born and raised via labs without mothers, the babies are unaware they're about to experience a shock of their lives as a lesson...(Don't worry Peeps they don't die but those who've read the book know exactly what's coming next.)
Above illustration is the scene where Bernard Marx manages to secure his job by humiliating his boss Tomakin/Director for life, preventing the latter from firing him. Bernard (short man on the left) is smugly looking on as Tomakin/Director's former lover Linda, whose now fat and ugly with bad teeth (this is how she was described in the book by the way), goes over to lovingly embrace Tomakin/Director. Tomakin/Director is horrified by this since the whole "Brave World World" is an incredibly shallow place where ugly people no longer exist. Don't know about you guys but the way Tomakin/Director's looks were described in the book, he hardly sounded like an oil painting himself! Oh I'm sorry I forgot, ONLY women get criticised for being ugly against their will, how dare they(?!) They're the ones who have to go out of their ways to look good whereas all men are God's Gift and thus, need to make NOOOOOOOO effort at all, silly me(!) Ahem, please excuse my mini sarcastic rant but this kind of double standard attitude in our society always pisses me off. Anyways moving on...
And last but not least, the above is the illustration showcasing a scene which leads towards the tragic final scene. I was originally going to illustrate the final scene itself but the more I tried to create it, the more I felt uncomfortable about it since what happened in the end isn't pleasant at all and to draw it I felt would be very insensitive. I know it's "only fiction" but still, I don't think it's right to make a light issue of it (again, those who've read the book will know what I'm talking about). So without giving anything away, I instead drew a scene from the book leading up to that tragedy. It's the scene of where the so-called "civilised" society of the "Brave New World" gather around John Savage (man kneeling down on the left), laughing at him and his apparent "savage" way of life. Little do they know, their attitude is about to lead to dire, tragic consequences...

These illustrations are intended to be Black&White with Red by the way. Not sure if I'm going to colour these later but we'll see.

Well, that's all for now folks and until next time...

See ya later Navigators! :D
